Machinery for Tube bending

Ransomes Jacobsen, part of the Textron Group USA, were looking to solve an issue they had in manufacturing roll over protection frames for their ride-on lawnmowers.  These were sub-contracted to a third party and made in two halves; the bend quality was not good and Ransomes were looking for a solution.

It was decided to bring the production of these parts in-house whilst moving production of other parts from Ransomes Jacobsen own Hilmor machine to the new mandrel bender.

Following careful consideration and investigation into many UK suppliers, Ransomes Jacobsen made the decision to buy a Soco SB90x5B-2S machine.  This gave them the flexibility to make the ROPS frame from 80x40x 4mm box section with 2 stack tooling as the frame is bent in both directions and now made in one piece, avoiding welding two halves together as they had done before.

Even our competition Addison McKee, whose machine was much more expensive and would not produce the part in one operation, could not believe it. The Soco machine supplied by Langbow has proved invaluable to Ransomes Jacobsen and more than justified their decision to buy, as payback was achieved in less than 12 months.

This, along with the continuing support from Langbow and the five year warranty, has proved Ransomes Jacobsen made the right decision.
